Our Story - Lenape Indians Wrestling

Lenape High School opened its doors in Medford, NJ in 1958. Historically, the school has always fielded top notch athletic teams in general, and talented and well-coached wrestling teams in particular. The school now houses over 2500 students at its campus located at 235 Hartford (corner of Church and Hartford), and, along with its sister schools Shawnee and Cherokee and Seneca, is part of the Lenape Regional High School District.

Lenape wrestles in the always-tough Olympic Conference, and was the runner up (to beloved Washington Twp.) this year in the Olympic Conference's American Division. The Olympic conference is traditionally one of the toughest conferences in the state. The 2003 - 2004 season saw the Indians complete a rough schedule with an overall record of 16 - 5, and ranked 9th in South Jersey by the Courier-Post. The Indians qualified for the NJSIAA Sectionals for the 18th time.

Lenape is proud of its long history of outstanding wrestling teams and individuals, and was selected as the 3rd-best wrestling program in South Jersey (where wrestling is king!) by the Camden Courier-Post newspaper in 1999, trailing only Paulsboro and Highland (oh well, the paper isn't perfect). Lenape has won 10 Burlington County League Liberty Division championships (before leaving the league), 4 Olympic American Division championships (including the last 3), 18 team District Championships (including the 2004 team crown in District 27), and 3 South Jersey Group IV championships.
